VitalFlow Health & Safety Disclaimer

VitalFlow Institute of Human Performance Inc. ("VitalFlow", "we", "us")

Effective date: Sept 01, 2026 | Last updated: Nov 01, 2026

This disclaimer applies to all VitalFlow programs, including the Adaptive Human Thriving System™ (AHTS™) courses, videos, Resets, downloadable materials, live or in-person sessions, and the AHTS™ Trainer Certification, whether you access them as an individual subscriber, through an employer or organizational licence, or through a VitalFlow-certified trainer (together, the "Programs"). Please read it before you begin. By accessing or participating in the Programs, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted it.

1. Educational and Wellbeing Purposes Only

The Programs provide general education in mind-body movement, breathing and relaxation practices intended to support everyday stress management, physical ease and work performance.

  •  Not medical or mental health care. VitalFlow is not a medical, clinical, physiotherapy, psychological or counselling service. The Programs are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate or prevent any disease, injury or physical or mental health condition, and they are not a substitute for professional care.
  •  No professional relationship. Using the Programs does not create a physician–patient, therapist–client or any other healthcare provider relationship with VitalFlow, its instructors or its certified trainers.
  •  Not individualized advice. Instruction is general and is not tailored to your health status, fitness level or medical history.

2. Check With a Healthcare Professional First

We recommend that you consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting any new movement or breathing practice. This is especially important if you:

  •  have a heart, lung or blood pressure condition, or chronic pain;
  •  have osteoporosis, joint replacements, or back, hip or knee problems;
  •  have balance or mobility difficulties, vertigo, or a history of falls;
  •  are recovering from surgery, illness, injury or a concussion;
  •  are pregnant or postpartum;
  •  have a respiratory condition, or a history of panic attacks or anxiety that breathing exercises may affect; or
  •  take medication that causes dizziness or affects blood pressure.

Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of anything in the Programs. If your healthcare provider advises against an exercise, follow their advice.

3. Practising Safely

Most VitalFlow instruction is pre-recorded and self-guided, so no instructor can see you, correct your form or respond if something goes wrong. You are responsible for practising within your own limits.

  •  Prepare your space. Use a well-lit, level, non-slip area free of furniture edges, cords and other hazards. Wear comfortable clothing and stable footwear, or practise barefoot on a non-slip surface.
  •  Protect your balance. Some movements involve shifting weight, turning, or standing on one leg. Keep a sturdy chair, counter or wall within reach. Use it for support, keep both feet on the ground, or practise seated whenever you feel unsteady.
  •  Breathe naturally. Never force or hold your breath. If a breathing exercise makes you feel light-headed, tingly, anxious or short of breath, return to normal breathing and stop the exercise.
  •  Stay within comfort. Move slowly and smoothly. Do not force a position, overstretch or work through pain.
  •  Modify or skip. You may pause, shorten, adapt or skip any movement at any time. A smaller range of motion is always acceptable.

4. Stop If You Notice Warning Signs

Stop immediately, sit or lie down safely, and seek medical advice if you experience:

  •  chest pain, pressure or tightness;
  •  unusual shortness of breath or an irregular or racing heartbeat;
  •  dizziness, light-headedness, faintness or loss of balance;
  •  nausea, sudden headache, or changes in vision;
  •  sharp, shooting or increasing pain, or joint strain.

In an emergency, stop all activity and call your local emergency number (911 in Canada and the United States) immediately.

5. Mental Health and Crisis Support

The Programs address everyday stress and work-related fatigue. They are not a treatment for burnout, depression, anxiety, trauma or any other mental health condition, and they are not a crisis service.

If you are struggling, please contact your healthcare provider, a mental health professional, or your Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), if your employer offers one. If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 9-8-8(Canada and the United States) or contact your local emergency services.

6. Organizational Licences and Workplace Use

If you access the Programs through your employer or another organization:

  •  Participation is voluntary. You may decline, pause or stop any practice at any time, regardless of how the Program is offered in your workplace.
  •  Safety-sensitive work comes first. Never practise while driving, operating vehicles or machinery, providing direct patient care, supervising others in safety-sensitive tasks, or performing any hazardous duty.
  •  Choose an appropriate time and place. Practise during breaks or outside working hours, in a safe area that meets your workplace's own health and safety rules.
  •  The organization's responsibilities remain its own. VitalFlow licenses educational content. Each licensing organization remains responsible for its own workplace health and safety obligations, accommodation duties, and decisions about how the Programs are offered to its people.

7. Healthcare Organizations

When licensed by a hospital, clinic or other healthcare organization, the Programs are provided for the wellbeing of that organization's staff. They are not a clinical protocol or a patient intervention. Any use of VitalFlow content with patients is at the organization's sole discretion and responsibility, under its own clinical governance and the judgment of its licensed professionals.

8. Self-Reflection Questionnaires

Some Programs invite you to complete short questionnaires about stress, fatigue, resilience or focus. These are for self-reflection and general program evaluation only. They are not diagnostic tests, and your scores do not indicate whether you have, or do not have, any health condition. How your responses are collected, used and shared is described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Research References and Individual Results

Where VitalFlow refers to published research on Tai Chi, Qigong or mind-body practice, those references describe findings from studies of specific groups under specific conditions. They do not guarantee that you will experience similar results, and they do not mean that any researcher, university or institution has endorsed VitalFlow or the Programs unless we expressly state so. Individual experience varies with health, consistency of practice and many other factors.

10. Certified Trainers

The AHTS™ Trainer Certification confirms that a trainer has completed VitalFlow's curriculum for teaching the AHTS™ practices. It is not a healthcare, fitness or professional licence. Certified trainers are independent and are not employees or agents of VitalFlow unless we state otherwise in writing. Each trainer is responsible for the safety of their own sessions, including screening participants, supervising practice, and holding any insurance or credentials required where they teach.

11. Voluntary Participation and Assumption of Risk

Participation in the Programs is voluntary. Physical movement and breathing practices carry inherent risks, including muscle soreness, strains, sprains, falls and, in rare cases, more serious injury or medical events. By choosing to participate, you acknowledge these risks and accept responsibility for deciding whether, when and how to practise, and for following the safety guidance above.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, VitalFlow, its directors, officers, employees, contractors and instructors are not liable for any injury, illness, loss or damage arising from your participation in the Programs or your reliance on their content.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits any liability, or any right you have, that cannot be excluded or limited under the laws that apply to you, including applicable consumer protection laws.

13. Governing Law, Updates and Contact

This disclaimer is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without limiting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live. It forms part of, and should be read with, our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. We may update it from time to time; the "Last Updated" date above shows when it last changed, and continued use of the Programs after an update means you accept the revised version.
